Wake up coffee lovers, this post is for you!
When I travelled to Tenerife last month (vlog is coming!) my friend insisted that I try the traditional coffee, Barraquito Especial. If you follow me, you already know I absolutely love it and I did the recipe as soon as I arrived back to London. And because many of you asked me about it, I decided to do a coffee post with interesting recipes from around the world!
*note: I used absolutely nothing fancy, so that everyone could do these recipes at home!
Barraquito Especial from Tenerife
Liquor (45 or Tia Maria are preffered)
Still my favourite, I love sweet coffees and the combination between the condensed milk and the milk foam gives you the perfect sweet taste, while the lemon zest takes away the strong taste of the condensed milk, making it just perfect. Absolutely a must!
2. Mazagran from Portugal
1 tbs of sugar
The Juice From Half a Lemon
1 shot of rum
This was probably the biggest shock. It has such a unique taste, you don't know what to focus on! Super refreshing though and will definitely wake you up!
3. Yuanyang from Hong Kong
I did not expect to like this to be honest, but it tastes really good! The combination between the black tea and coffee makes it a strong drink while the condensed milk is balances it all very nicely!
4. Qahwa from Saudi Arabia
Coffee (green coffee beans preferred)
1 Crushed Cardamom Pod
A Few Cloves
1/8 tsp Saffron
This is for people who like their coffee strong and unsweetened! I was not a big fan of this coffee but it was my boyfriend's favourite! The spices do smell and taste amazing but I would put more sugar in it!
2. Turkish Coffee from Turkey
Very Finely Ground Coffee
A Cup of Water
1 tsp of Sugar
I expected this one to be even stronger than Qahwa, but surprisingly it was very smooth and easy to drink! If you want to have a perfect, thick foam use the Cezve, the traditional coffee pot. I loved this so much I will definitely buy one!
